What Your Journey Looks Like

Your accommodation will range from comfortable hotels to remote bush camps, but don't let the word "camp" put you off. Our wilderness camps feature spacious canvas rooms with proper beds, en-suite bathrooms, power, and that all-important morning tea and coffee. We have personally selected every property we use, and comfort in the bush is very much part of the experience.

Most of our lodges and camps are full board, which makes perfect sense given there are no cafes out in the bush! What you might not expect is the quality. Our personally selected chefs consistently impress, with buffets, barbecues, and beautifully presented meals. And of course there will be sundowners out in the bush on game drives, with a cold beer or wine as the sun goes down. We cater for all special dietary requirements, just let us know when you book. 

All activities are assessed for safety, animal ethics, and professionalism by our in-country Operations Team before we include them in any itinerary. We work exclusively with local guides who have deep knowledge of the parks, the animals, and the local environment. Before you depart, you will receive detailed notes on what to expect in each park, including safety protocols, what to bring, and guidelines for animal interactions.

We understand it is an unusual term (but when in Africa!) Game drives are simply guided excursions in open safari vehicles, typically departing at dawn and again in the late afternoon when wildlife is most active. You sit back, take in the landscape, and let your guide do the rest. Some drives cover significant distances, particularly in larger parks like Hwange National Park, but this is all part of the experience. 

 These are only offered in selected camps where we have assessed safety. You can't simply take yourself for a walk in the bush; you must be escorted by a qualified guide or Park Ranger. The accreditation to become a walking guide is rigorous and only those guides with full accreditation will be taking you on a walking tour. These tours are usually quite short, for example from water hole to water hole or to see the Rhinos in the wild. We will be providing full notes on walking tours, and you will be given a full safety briefing from your guide. 

A cruise on the Chobe River and the Okavango Delta are included in your itinerary and are among the highlights of the tour. For those who want more time on the water, there are optional extras including a sunset cruise at Victoria Falls and kayaking in South Africa. All river activities are led by qualified guides and experienced boat handlers. 

There will be options to take tourist flights over the Victoria Falls and Okavango Delta. These flights are commercially run and paid directly with the airline. This is not to be confused with the flights to and from the remote parks which are chartered or scheduled light aircraft flights.

All parks require entrance fees, and we will be clear on what park fees have been paid for and what are optional.
